Meet the friendly staff at Spartan Animal Hospital!
Dr. Hank Clemmons graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. He moved to McFarland and started his own equine practice in 1987. In 1991 Dr. Clemmons opened Spartan Animal Hospital in a small storefront, and expanded to its current location in 2004. Dr. Clemmons enjoys taking care of the area's pets and getting to know the people they bring with them. Dr. Clemmons has continued to work with horses with an emphasis on show horse sports medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA), the Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA), and the American Hackney Horse Society (AHHS). He lives with his wife Janine, dogs Bell and Raven, Steve the cat and an African Grey parrot named Birdy.
Dr. Michael Wenninger graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Following graduation he moved to eastern Pennsylvania where he worked at two advanced veterinary hospitals before relocating back to his home state of Wisconsin. Dr. Wenninger enjoys the challenges of veterinary medicine with special interests in surgery, internal medicine and exotic animal medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA), the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV), the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the Association of Sugar Glider Veterinarians (ASGV) the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society (WHRS), and the Madison Area Herpetological Society (MAHS). Dr. Wenninger resides with his wife Amanda and son Maxwell. Together the Wenninger family has dogs (Remmy and Gypsy), cats (Willie and RatCat), a blue and gold macaw (BG), and a large group of reptiles. In his free time, Dr. Wenninger enjoys outdoor activities, visiting zoos and reptile shows, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Dr. Sheryl Allen graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. She then moved to Indiana and completed a small animal rotating internship in medicine, surgery, and emergency at Purdue University. Following the internship, she moved back to her home state of Wisconsin to join the Spartan staff. Dr. Allen really enjoys educating and getting to know her clients and patients, and has special interests in surgery, neurology, and oncology. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA). Dr. Allen resides with her husband, Erik, and two fur children, Kong (dog), and Nick (cat). Dr. Allen loves playing ice hockey and volleyball, cheering on the Badgers as a UW Marching Band Alum, baking, and spending time with family.
Fallon is our Office Manager and has been with Spartan since 2003. After studying at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee she decided her interests lie in the veterinary field. Getting to know the patients and clients of Spartan is important to Fallon and her hard work and dedication to the hospital make her a valuable asset to the practice. Fallon resides in Fort Atkinson with her husband Pete and daughter Milan. She also shares her home with her dog Dax, kitties Chase and Casper, a pygmy goat named Ennis, and a pot bellied pig named Sullivan. Fallon enjoys spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, hiking, reading and travel.
Kim is our longest standing Certified Veterinary Technician. Kim graduated from the veterinary technician program at Madison Area Technical College in 2000, joining the Spartan Animal Hospital that year. Kim's dedication to the practice has enabled her to acquire the compassion and commitment to build long standing relationships with both patients and clients. She has two cats named Sweetie and Hermione, one whites tree frog and two leopard geckos. Kim currently resides in Sun Prairie with her husband Scott and daughter Tatum. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and building her leadership business.
Haley is our McFarland born and raised Certified Veterinary Technician. Haley has used the opportunity to know our clients on a personal and professional level. Haley first started working at Spartan Animal Hospital in high school as cleaner, then after her experience with Spartan - enrolled in Madison Area Technical College's veterinary technician program. Haley graduated from the program in 2003 and joined Spartan as a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2004. Haley currently resides in Stoughton with her husband Dan and son Cameron. Haley and her family are lovers of all species great and small. They currently have two cats, two salamanders, one Senegal parrot, one lovebird and one fish. In her free time Haley enjoys camping, taking walks, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Jesse has been a member of the Spartan team since February 2015. After graduating from Globe University in 2014, Jesse knew he wanted to help care for a variety of species. Jesse looks forward to building relationships with both patients and clients. He currently has one bearded dragon named Smaug. Jesse resides in Cottage Grove with his wife Rachel, son Aaron, and daughter Taylor. In his free time Jesse enjoys outdoor activities, coaching football, reading, and most importantly spending time with friends and family.
Katie joined the Spartan team in 2015. She graduated from Globe University and became a CVT in 2012. She is very excited to have the opportunity to work with such a wide variety of species here at Spartan. Growing up, Katie cared for dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, ferrets, fish and a hermit crab. Currently, with her husband Joel, she cares for a German Shepherd named Delilah, three cats; Harlow, Harrison and Hendrix, and a rat named Petey. In her free time Katie enjoys volunteering with the Brodhead Jaycees and spending time with her family.
Amber graduated from Globe University in 2016. She completed her internship at Spartan and knew she wanted to work with a variety of species. One of her main goals is to work in rehabilitation with wildlife. She is originally from Arizona. Amber has a dog named Simba, and a cat named Daphne. She grew up with dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and many other pets. Amber enjoys the outdoors, fitness, and spending time with family and friends.
Shannon has been a member of the Spartan team since 2008. Shannon manages the front reception desk and client relations for Spartan. She is studying business management at Madison Area Technical College, and has a pet sitting business. She resides with her husband Jared in Marshall. She loves animals and enjoys the company of her cats, Duchess and Seymore, and her dog, Stella.
Kara has been a member of the Spartan team since 2013 when she started as a volunteer. While she is originally form New Hampshire, she graduated in 2013 with her bachelors from the College of Wooster in Ohio and is currently in the process of completing her DVM at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She resides in Madison with her husband Nikolai and their three "kids", a rabbit name Blossom, a chinchilla named Oberyn, and a cat named Fennec. In her free time, she loves playing board games, volunteering at the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society, and trying desperately not to kill her plants.
Diane retired in 2014 after a long career in insurance. She came to Spartan Animal Hospital in February 2017 as our part-time cleaner. She lives in McFarland with her husband and two fur babies, Sam and Lucy Lu. Diane enjoys spending time with her two children and four grandchildren. Her hobbies are walking, crocheting, and getting away to her cabin in Hillsboro.
